DAILY CREATION

Margolis Method training ties every impulse to the building of a theatrical event. Therefore, creation and performance are part of the daily rigor. Artists refine their physical, vocal, and creative instrument by intersecting with precise and rigorous exercises that merge the skill sets of the actor, director, and playwright.

The Method’s supportive, laboratory style offers each artist valuable opportunities to practice giving and receiving feedback. This practice allows students to further develop an analytical eye and articulate way of communicating with other artists.

PERFORMANCE PROJECTS

As creation is central to Margolis Method, the building of theatrical projects is an important part of training and putting new performance skills into practice. Projects vary in form and intent, and are designed to artistically challenge and inspire. They provide the perfect vehicle for artists to approach the creative process in new and inventive ways. Each project culminates in a performance for other training colleagues, and is followed by an open forum to discuss process and artistic goals.

HOURS

Artists train Monday through Friday for 25 hours per week. Monday and Friday run from 10:00am to 4:00pm, with an hour lunch break.

Additional hours are set aside for artists to create and rehearse ongoing projects.

SPIRAL LEARNING

The summer intensive enhances growth through Margolis Method’s concept of “spiral learning,” where training artists at all levels work side by side. Margolis Method exercises have been developed to inspire artists, no matter how long they have been training, to continue striving on a daily basis to become more sophisticated storytellers.

Each exercise is layered in such a way that artists can work on deeper and deeper levels of specificity as they mature in their training. Within the spiral learning format, newer students learn at an accelerated rate by gleaning from the knowledge of advanced artists, while at the same time offering new insights and fresh perspectives that benefit everyone. Each individual artist’s breakthrough raises the bar for the entire ensemble and brings everyone to new levels of understanding.

ACTIVITIES

The 3-Week Summer Intensive at the Margolis Method Center Int'l finds the perfect balance of creativity, rigor, relaxation, and festivity. Weekends take advantage of all the area has to offer, with river rafting, pool parties, and barbecues (including authentic Spanish-style paella). We're dedicated to making your experience fulfilling and fun, both inside the studio and out.
